Storm Damage

Severe Thunderstorms are occurring more frequently throughout the Southeast. The Southeast encounters more and more violent weather patterns every year. These violent weather patterns produce tornadoes and large hail. Due to high winds and falling hail, these storms are damaging roofing systems across the Southeast. As a result, Insurance Companies are sending adjusters into this area to assess the severity of the damage and pay to replace the roof if necessary. Storm damage may or may not be visible from the ground and that is why insurance companies are inspecting roofing systems to see if damage occurred to the roof.

What is Roof Damage?

Hail falls from severe thunderstorms striking the roof. It leaves a bruise or puncture mark in the shingle. These strikes knock the asphalt granules away from the shingle leaving the tar matting exposed. Over time the sun's UV Ray's burn through the tar matting eventually exposing the underlayment and wood decking. Once the rain comes, it will seep into these impact marks, follow into cracks in the decking, and cause leaks and water stains on the ceilings.
